Positively Pooh: Timeless Wisdom from Pooh is a collection of original writings by A. A. Milne that offers life lessons for all ages.

Beloved by generations, Pooh Bear, Christopher Robbins, and all of their friends in the Hundred Acre Wood are back in a book that compiles various sayings and tidbits of wisdom. This book is suited for reading to younger children, as well as serving as a time-out from the hectic world for adults.

The book features original texts from A. A. Milne and illustrations from Ernest H. Shepard, and its appearance is as beautiful as its contents.

Chapters in Positively Pooh

There are only four chapters in this book, making it simple to pick a section that perhaps fits the mood(s) of the reader(s).

  • Chapter One: For your inner bear
  • Chapter Two: For those bothersome days
  • Chapter Three: For when you’re in a tight place
  • Chapter Four: For those hummy sort of days

Each chapter has a simple direction or suggestion, accompanied by artwork and quotes from various Pooh books.

Samples from Chapters in Positively Pooh

Each chapter has fun, simple yet deep sayings and advice that can be appreciated by all ages.

  • Chapter One: For your inner bear. “Allow enough time for a morning wash! ‘I don’t hold with all this washing,’ grumbled Eeyore. ‘This modern Behind-the-ears nonsense. What do you think, Pooh?’”
  • Chapter Two: For those bothersome days. “Those with Brain don’t always know it all. Owl looked at the tonice again. To one of his education the reading of it was easy. ‘Gon out, Backson. Bisy, Backson’ – just the sort of thing you’d expect to see on a notice. ‘It is quite clear what has happened, my dear Rabbit,’ he said. ‘Christopher Robin has gone out somewhere with Backson. He and Backson are busy together. Have you seen a Backson anywhere about in the Forest lately?’”
  • Chapter Three: For when you’re in a tight place. “Fine a Thoughtful Spot of your own. Halfway between Pooh’s house and Piglet’s house was a Thoughtful Spot where they met sometimes when they had decided to go and see each other, and as it was warm and out of the win they would sit down there for a little and wonder what they would do not that they had seen each other.”
  • Chapter Four: For those hummy sort of days. “A friendly paw will reassure. Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. ‘Pooh!’ he whispered. ‘Yes, Piglet?’ ‘Nothing,’ said Piglet, taking Pooh’s paw. ‘I just wanted to be sure of you.’”

A. A. Milne first published some of his Winnie-the-Pooh stories in 1926. They were an instant success, and it is easy to see why.

The stories speak to simple, yet complex, principles of living that are relevant to all ages. They are not simply children's books. Adults can learn a thing or two, as well.

And who truly can resist Pooh, Eeyore, and Piglet?

This book is available through the Paragon catalogue.
